Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion is housed in the beautiful and historic Bee-Bennett House in Placerville, CA. The house was originally built in 1853 by Colonel Frederick Bee, a pioneer and entrepreneur who founded the Bee Telegraph Company. In 1889 Judge Marcus P. Bennett and his wife Mary purchased the house and expanded, transforming the house into a 16-room mansion. Mary Bennett was active an society matron, known for her parties and her famous Shakespeare Club. The beautiful Victorian-era details that enchanted Mary’s guests at her gorgeous galas now provide a truly exceptional backdrop for your wedding.
In 2002 the Bee-Bennett house was bought and restored by winemakers Nello and Danica Olivo. The basement of the Mansion is the Nello Olivo wine cellar and tasting room that is open to the public. The wine cellar and other rooms in the house can also be used for your rehearsal dinner.
The unique layout of the Mansion offers several options for your ceremony. Say your vows outside on the lawn, in the garden on a stone patio or inside in the window-lined Veranda Room. For cocktail hour your guests can wander out onto the generous porch, sit on a charming Victorian settee in the Front Parlor or explore the handsome, private bar that features dark wood details and a spectacular, hand-carved 19th century fireplace. For the reception your guests will move into the Empire Ballroom. This large, open space seats up to 250 guests and features hardwood floors, a vaulted ceiling over the dance floor, a built-in stage and state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.
